Attention sports fans! Every year, after a champion is crowned, teams whose title hopes fell short begin to trade players and offer new contracts to others in hopes of becoming better. Companies all across America similarly try to improve by seeking out qualified employees, and offering what could be a candidate’s dream job. The new employee, whether they wear a helmet or not, should make all the necessary moves to make their perfect job become a reality, because life is too short not to give yourself the best possible chance to get ahead!
As a result, everyone must be open to all possibilities for career advancement. Whether you are finishing up your degree or looking to move up in your chosen field, you must be open to leaving the familiar comforts of home if an opportunity arises in another city, or even another state.
You only get a few chances in life to say yes to an amazing job offer. ICDC College has students all over the country, and even the world, and the faculty knows that moving is easier said than done. It can be tough to leave friends and family, not to mention finding housing in a new city. Also, spouses and partners must leave their jobs, friends, and family. Such moves can be toughest on young children, too, as they’ll have to start at a new school.
But these feelings are all temporary. Moving anywhere is stressful, but eventually, you get settled in, and life returns to normal. You just have to keep in mind why you are making the move. A better job means more opportunity, a bigger salary, or more benefits. Sometimes the new job might have all three! No matter the combination, the stress just means you are doing everything you can for you and your family to have a nice life.
Athletes often switch teams, but they do so because it often means that there is more money and chance for growth involved. ICDC College graduates must have the same mentality. Getting a new job can be stressful, but the rewards are usually very obvious. So no matter what stage you are on with the job search, it is important to be flexible, and when that dream job is offered to you, do what it takes to be able to say yes!
