We all get banged up from time to time – whether from a work injury or on the court as a weekend warrior – and need professional help to get healthy again. However, sometimes the most valuable assistance we can get comes not from doctors, but from physical therapists.

ICDC College is proud to offer a campus-based Physical Therapy Aide Fast-Track Diploma program that is 36 weeks long, and prepares students for entry level careers as physical therapy aides.

Students will be prepared to assist in the rehabilitation and recovery of patients suffering from disabling conditions caused by age, injury, surgery, physical disability, or disease.

Students in the program will learn to assist patients with exercise, proper use of heat packs, ultrasounds, and additional procedures that help improve mobility as part of an overall recovery plan.

The program also exposes students to massage therapy techniques, and shows how therapeutic and deep tissue massages can provide physiological and psychological benefits. Additional coursework includes learning Sports Massage and Russian Massage skills.

Students will learn basic medical terminology, as well as human anatomy and physiological procedures. Additionally, students will develop vital administrative skills that include medical insurance billing for hospitals, doctors’ offices, and medical facilities.

Graduates of the Physical Therapy Aide program will be qualified to practice at:

  • Hospitals
  • Clinics
  • Hospices
  • Nursing homes
  • Rehabilitation facilities
  • Fitness centers
  • Outpatient facilities

Within this program, students are trained in various patient care techniques, including assisting during treatment sessions, positioning patients for examination, transporting and transferring patients, verifying insurance coverage, and updating medical records.
