Ever wonder why some “holidays” exist? There seems to be one for practically everything! One such holiday is National Recommitment Month. And while there is no law passed to make sure we all celebrate properly, recognizing this holiday gives us a well-deserved opportunity to realize what is truly important in our lives.

Between work, school, friends, and family, it is very easy to become overwhelmed with our adult responsibilities. National Recommitment Month is a chance for us to sit back, take a deep breath and realize the importance of what we dedicate ourselves to, and why we do it.

We work, obviously, to make enough money to live. But part of living is enjoying time with friends and family at everything from backyard barbecues to quiet nights on the couch watching TV. So while it is easy to become stressed with work, remember that by recommitting to work, you really are recommitting to being with the people that make you the happiest.

School can be stressful too. Students work hard, and it can be easy to lose sight of long term goals when tests and papers seem like obstacles instead of ways to measure progress. But taking a few minutes to step back to think about why Associate Degrees and Fast-Track Diplomas are so important is a great way to recommit to them. In doing so, it becomes easy to once again see them as great opportunities to begin, or extend, career options.

So wherever your life is right now, make sure you take the time to recommit to what is important. Doing so will help you focus your precious energy on career, school, friends and family.
