ICDC College announced today that it has expanded its curriculum to include a continuing education course designed to provide advanced education for security officers and loss prevention professionals interested in furthering their career in loss prevention management. The four-hour online course is approved and recognized by the State of California Department of Consumer Affairs (Provider #PCE 5037), and the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (Provider #17023).
The course covers important topics, including: shrinkage, the criminal and civil aspects of shoplifting, the criminal mind and motivation behind stealing, monitoring and observing customers who handle merchandise, basic investigation techniques, how to process shoplifters, and law and liability in the retail environment.
“Senior retail management relies upon trained security and loss prevention associates, agents and managers who understand how to identify and reduce inventory losses initiated through employee and vendor theft, fraud, shoplifting and accounting errors,” said ICDC College’s Director of Employer Relations. “This course is designed for security officers and loss prevention professionals who work for large or small retailers such as, department stores, supermarkets, boutiques, warehouses and convenient stores.”
Beyond immediate theft, however, loss prevention encompasses an overall benefit to companies.
“ICDC College also understands the need for employers to not only have trained loss prevention specialists, but to also develop standard operating procedures to reduce potential damage to a company’s reputation and insurance costs, while avoiding potential litigation and liability associated with theft in any form,” said ICDC College’s Vice President of Business Operations and Strategy.
