ICDC College just added the Forensic Scientist Associates Degree to its legion of career-training programs. The program, which is now open for enrollment, is offered online so students can log in and learn at their own convenience.

The Forensic Scientist program is a unique blend of three major disciplines: science, law enforcement and criminal justice. ICDC College’s launch of this program comes at a time when forensic science and crime scene investigation gain pop culture notoriety on television. However, this real life career is more encompassing than is detailed on television.

“Forensic Science is a relatively unknown and misunderstood career field,” says David Hall, Regional Director for ICDC College. “It uses science to solve crimes, possessing the most interesting, diverse and growing opportunities.”

Forensic Scientist graduates can find potential opportunities in federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, private forensic labs, military crime labs, and coroner’s and medical examiner’s offices. Graduates will be qualified to pursue employment as criminalists, forensic technicians, crime scene technicians, crime scene investigators, forensic identification specialists, and more.

Training at ICDC College includes covering topics like blood stain evidence, fingerprint analysis, footwear impressions, computer forensics, cybercrime, and other forensic-related issues. The program even uses a virtual laboratory to analyze real-case evidence, examine specimens and draw conclusions about a case.

“Forensic Science is a field that is constantly evolving and changing over time, which affords students the opportunity to learn and analyze new and exciting information on a daily basis,” says a Forensics Specialist and Instructor of ICDC College’s Homeland Security and Forensic Scientist programs.

In the Forensic Scientist Associates Degree program, students will learn from experienced professionals who are experts in the field and whose backgrounds bring dimension to the curriculum.

Students who successfully complete the program will earn an associates degree and can utilize ICDC College’s Career Services Department for help in writing a resume, finding jobs, and performing mock interviews.
